Botox or Anti-aging injections™
Botox or anti-aging injections are used to treat fine lines and wrinkles and are relatively non-invasive and painless. It is a purified botulinum neurotoxin that paralyses the muscle it is injected into. It is grown from a culture of bacteria called Clostridium Botulinum type A however it cannot give you the disease Botulinism.
Dynamic wrinkles occur when the muscles of the face contract to produce facial expressions. Over time as our collagen is depleted these dynamic wrinkles will lead to static wrinkles which are present even when we are not contracting our muscles, similarly to how a stream of water can erode through a rock over time.
Botox works by paralysing the facial muscles and thus reducing dynamic lines and preventing static wrinkles.
Botox is charged at R70 per unit and the amount of units needed depends on the area being treated and the specific needs of the patient.
